The star of Gossip Girl, Penn Badgley, will be exchanging doting on the object of his affections by making posts about all that she get's up to online, for using everything that the girl posts to gain her interest in the first trailer for the sinister new series YOU.
Given a 10-episode straight-to-series order by Lifetime back in April last year, YOU is based on the best-selling novel by Caroline Kepnes. On the 9th May, UK viewers were first given exposure to the series, thanks to their trusty movie source, Netflix.
How creepy is the intro-line. Badgley's character, Joe, says "There you were," "Every account set to public. You want to be seen, heard, known. Of course, I obliged."
Cheap Trick's 'I Want You to Want Me', playing in the trailer's background makes your skin crawl. Moving right into Joe's infatuated mind as he takes advantage of technology to get the affections of Beck (Once Upon a Time's Elizabeth Lail), on the surface, he morphs his identity from introspective stalker to reliable boyfriend.
Joe continues, "There are scary people in the world, Beck,". "Jealousy got the best of me. How, exactly, does one get rid of a body?"
Shay Mitchell, the Pretty Little Liars actress, is also set to star in the series. She will be playing Beck's best friend, Peach, of whom makes her distrust of Joe crystal clear.
As his obsessive behaviour forewarns, Joe is obviously willing to do anything it takes to get rid of obstacles preventing him from being with Beck. Even if this incorporates murder
We're not sure on dates for the UK yet, but YOU is scheduled to premiere on Lifetime in America on the 8th September.
