Pink sandy beaches sounds like something dreamed up, or an outlandish celebrity demand from the likes of Paris Hilton. But, it is in fact 100% real, so as soon as we discovered this we had to know where we were booking our next trip.
Pink bubbly, rose gold bikini and an inflatable flamingo all packed up in a Love Pink travel bag and we're ready to jet off to these five pink sand beaches;
Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Indonesia
An island where "dragons" exist and the beaches are pink. Sounds like a fairy-tale, right? Nope, this is Komodo Island; home to the Komodo dragon, which is in fact a gigantic monitor lizard.
The magical rose hue of Pink Beach is down to a combination of red coral and white sand. Even an actual fire breathing dragon couldn't stop us enjoying this pink, sandy spectacle!
Elafonisi Lagoon, Crete, Greece
Elafonisi Lagoon is a little piece of tropical heaven here on the European continent. The pink colour in the sand is the result of tiny red organisms that grow on the coral reef just off the coast and get washed up onto the beach.
Horseshoe Bay, Bermuda
No rose-tinted glasses required! This is one of the most popular beaches in the world; and with warm crystalline waters and soft pink-tinged sand, it's little wonder why.
Crane Beach, Barbados
Another pink paradise fit for a princess. This blush beach in Barbados gets it's name from when it used to be a commercial port in the 18th century and a crane was used to haul cargo on and off ships.
Spiaggia Rosa, Sardinia, Italy
So beautiful was this perfectly pink beach, that people could not get enough of it. Literally. Tourists collecting keepsakes of the pink sand meant that over time it became completely depleted. The beach is now protected, so as to preserve this unique habitat.
