5 Easy and Natural Ways to Relieve an Unwanted Headache

A headache can be caused by a number of different things and they are normally your body's way of letting you it needs something. keeping up a healthy diet and exercising regularly will help to avoid headache symptoms.

While you should avoid caffeinated drinks if you have a headache, naturally caffeine-free herbal teas can help you relax and feel calm. Teas such as chamomile, lavender and peppermint are all good places to start. You can also try reliving your symptoms with a heat pack, you can purchase a wheat bag which can be heated in the microwave and placed over your shoulders to help to relieve any tension around your neck and soothe your head pain. Some people do prefer a cold version of this but this is completely down to preference and whatever works for you.

Screens are a part of most of our everyday lives but spending too much time on them can strain your eyes and lead to a headache. Even if you don't feel like your headache has initially been caused by too much screen time, it is a good idea to take a break from screens if you start to feel any symptoms, as they could make your headache worse.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking enough water is important for your everyday health and dehydration is a very common cause of headaches. Sometimes we can confuse a sense of being hungry, with actually needing to drink more water. Dehydration can be caused by lots of things other than not just drinking enough. For example, eating salty food, doing more exercise than normal, drinking alcohol or being in a hot environment. So, making sure you get enough fluids all day, every day can really reduce your chances of suffering from a headache.

Get Some Rest

Not enough sleep combined with stress can be a big cause of headaches. It is quite natural to feel a bit more tired in the winter than in the summer, understanding this and managing your family, work and leisure time to fit around your energy levels can help our bodies to stay fit and healthy. If you feel a headache coming on it can be a good idea to dim the lights and try to relax with your eyes closed, you can also invest in an eye mask to block out any light if you feel like it is making your headache worse.
